You must request an Initial
Review within 21 calendar days of receiving the citation, or within
14 calendar days of receiving the Reminder Notice of Delinquent Parking
Citation.
There are four ways to request an Initial Review: online, by mail,
over the telephone, or in-person. The City will review your request
and, based on current City of Santa Monica parking regulations, make
one of the following determinations:
- If your citation is found to be "Valid" (liable) you
will be sent written notification that the citation must be paid.
Please ensure that we have your correct mailing address.
- If your citation is found to be "Not Valid" (not liable)
you will be sent written notification that the citation has been
dismissed. Your citation will be cancelled and you do not need
to take any further action.

You may request your initial review by filling out a simple online

Request by Mail
You may wish to select this option if you have supporting documentation
you would like to present, such as proof of current registration,
photographs, or change of vehicle ownership information. You can request
an Initial Review by writing to the following address:

Write a letter to the above address explaining why you believe that
the citation was issued in error. Include any documentation which
may support your claim. Sent copies of documentation will not be returned.
Once your letter is received, an Initial Review will be conducted
by the City.

below between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday:

The Initial Review will be recorded via telephone by the Customer
Service Representative (CSR).
